Our History

The Vilela Group was born from a journey marked by vision, courage, and a commitment to care. Over the years, it has established itself as a business group with a strong presence in the animal health sector, bringing together brands that offer solutions for livestock, companion animals, the import and distribution of veterinary products, and human supplements.

Timeline

1970

The founding of Fundação das Indústrias Farmacêuticas Calbos in Curitiba marked the beginning of Andrelino Vilela’s entrepreneurial journey and the origins of today’s Vilela Group.

1978

Calbos Laboratories entered the animal health sector, building on Andrelino Vilela’s expertise and steering the group toward its primary strategic focus.

1998

The founding of CVR Medicamentos, later renamed Vila Real and then VilaVet Saúde Animal, marked the company’s industrial expansion and the incorporation of PROPEC products, such as Bovifort and Promastic.

2004

Establishment of Medinal, expanding its operations in human dietary supplements and strengthening the group’s diversification.

2010

Opening of the Distribution Center in Feira de Santana (BA), expanding logistics and service to northeastern Brazil.

2014

Establishment of UNA, the import and distribution arm, expanding access to international technologies.

2015

Launch of the Placencal line, which has become a national benchmark and solidified its position as the world’s best-selling oxytocin product.

2016

Production of penicillin derivatives began at the new industrial complex, further advancing the technical capabilities and in-house production of the product portfolio.

2019

Start of large-scale production of injectables and oral medications, consolidating the group’s vertical integration of production.

2020

André Vilela assumed the presidency, marking a generational transition and a new cycle of growth and strategic expansion.

2021

Production of hormone-based products began, and the historic facility on Alferes Poli Street was decommissioned, completing the move to the new industrial park.

2022

Inauguration of the Vilela Group’s new facility at Expointer, featuring impressive architecture and a focus on relationships and branding.

First import of Heel Vet products into Brazil, marking the start of a strategic partnership in bioregulatory medicine.

2024

Launch of the Bovifort concept, which segments animals by production stage, bringing strategic innovation to the market.

2025

Launch of the internationalization project, including the establishment of the export division and plans to expand into dozens of countries.

Creation of the VetTech Global R&D Center, focused on innovation and the development of new products.

2026

Consolidating family and executive management, fostering sustainable growth, innovation, and organizational culture throughout the group’s 56-year history.
